Tonight’s I was joined by the one and only Alison Talbot, Station Manager of Storm FM, what better way to get this brand new show under way?
The album Alison chose to present to me this evening was Amy Winehouse – Back To Black (2006) which if I’m honest I wasn’t looking forward to. I obviously knew of Amy’s work but was never really a fan, therefore Alison had quite a challenge on her hands in order to convince me that this album was worthy of the Ground Breakers seal of approval.
As we listened through the album Alison expanded upon a lot of the underlying messages within the music and also expanded upon this to explain how and why she could relate to many of the songs in one way or another.
Whilst, I was still not overly gone on the album, I must admit that by listening to album in its entirety and hearing the thoughts and opinions of a fan did however portray the album in a much way than I had originally felt and it also highlighted the importance of message and especially stories within music that people can relate to. These reasons coupled with the musical differences to other works of its time were the key factors in my final decision as follows.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED - Seal Approved.
