This week, Alec and I approached Guillaume Thierry with the idea with doing an entire show based on his module as an additional revision aid for the first year psychology students.
He kindly invited us into his office and we discussed ideas for the show. As the show was scheduled to air the day before the exam, we all decided that a break from revision would be more beneficial to the first year psychology students rather than 2 hours of more cramming. The show would have been very fast paced and would probably confused more students than is would have helped.
The show was announced in lectures and advertised on Blackboard as a revision show… However a break from study solidifies knowledge; we tricked our fellow students into taking this advice!
So the show includes an interview with Guillaume and some of his favourite songs along with some loosely related Brain and Mind topics. And most importantly, a sercret exam tip reveleved by Guillaume himself!!

Oliver Sacks – The Man who Mistook his Wife for a Hat
For anyone who enjoyed the Brain and Mind module they will without doubt love this book. I read this book last year and it is one of the big reasons as to why I am studying psychology now. The book looks at unusual neurological disorders which are broken down into short stories. Sack’s is an amazing writer, he describes his patients as first and foremost people and you really get to know these people. Sacks’ isn’t the usual neurological author, rather than describe his patients limitations due to their disorder, he highlights the benefits and enhanced senses the patients are “enjoying”.
This is my favourite show so far, we managed to get the most listeners on StormFm for the entire week and for this we thank YOU, the listeners.
