Final The Back Pages

Category : Shows

This is a message to say this will be the last The Back Pages of the calendar year. Also, this will be my last ever radio show in the StormFM colours. May I say it has been a priviledge to have been part of a superb radio station that will do bigger and better things in the future, I just know it!

Final message, the show this Saturday will be between 4-5pm, not the usual 5-6pm scheduled. Put it in your diaries, 4-5pm, not 5-6pm.

Thank you.
John!

Varsity 2011: Bangor University v Aberystwyth University

Category : Shows

Today, Stormfm will be proudly giving you coverage from Aberystwyth of the competition everyone is talking about! John Price and Adam Gardner will be on air throughout the day giving you up-to-date scores of the Varsity Championships.

In 2010, Varsity Championships were in Bangor, and won by Bangor 12-9 and we are hoping for a similar outcome today. 400 competitors took part last year and this year will provide with more action and drama than ever before.

So if you couldn’t be in Aber today, not to worry because Storm comes to the rescue.

Six Nations Prediction League: Result!

Category : Shows

The final whistle has blown on Storm FM’s Six Nations Prediction League, we had 8 people invovled in this week’s predictions and special mentions go to John who was top of the leaderboard for this week scoring 3 points, one of two people to correctly predict an Irish victory! (with DJ Onshore being the other person)

Ireland made sure that this was a low scoring week with a shock victory over England, it seems that St Patrick was looking over them on Saturday. No-one got any bonus points this week, our closest predicition being one of John’s saying that France would win by 15 points and they did win, but by 19 points.

So, without further ado here is the final standings of the league meaning that the winner is….

15pts Adam
12pts John
10pts Amy
9pts Nick, Garreth
7pts Dion, James, Drew
6pts Cam, DJ Onshore
3pts Alex
2pts Sam
1pt Darren

So, congratulations to Adam, the winner of Storm FM’s Six Nations Prediction Legaue and he wins…nothing!

Thanks to everyone who took part, I’m sure we’ll be back with the League again next year! Make sure to tune in next week and every week at 4:30pm for The Back Pages!

Six Nations Prediction League Week 5: Final Week!

Category : Shows

We have now entered the final week of the Six Nations Prediction League. The competition has been fierce and Adam looks to be running away with it. Seeing Amy not competing the previous week, this gave our co-presenter an opportunity to increase the gap at the top of the leaderboard.

Only five people took part in last week’s prediction league which saw Italy defeated all of the competitors for this league as well as the French 22-21. However, the Welsh beat Ireland controversially 19-13, but Adam has to thank Mike Phillip’s winning try as he said Wales would win by six points. He gets the only bonus point of the week.

Without further ado, here are the current standings with just ONE week to go.
13pts Adam
9pts Amy, John
7pts Drew, Garreth, Nick
6pts Cam, Dion, James
5pts DJ Onshore
3pts Alex
2pts Sam
1pt Darren

Remember, there is ONE week to go so Adam hasn’t quite won it yet. Unless someone gets an prediction absolutely right, you could be on your way to an honourable victory. Here are the fixtures for this crucial weekend of rugby.

Saturday 19th March 2011
2.30pm Scotland v Italy
5pm Ireland v England
7.45pm France v Wales

The deadline for this week’s predictions are this Saturday 2pm, half hour before kick off so make your predictions the most accurate and Adam and Nick will announce the result this Sunday from 4.30pm and the full results will be posted on the blog next week.

Show extension

Category : Shows

Hello everyone,

Hope you’re enjoying the glorious north Wales sunshine. If it’s not sunny wherever you are then… I’ll move on.

Just a message to say that there has been a change to The Back Pages. The show has now been extended to a further 30 minutes so we now start at 4.30pm and finish at 6pm. The idea was for the show to produce more local sport’s outcome so we won’t let you down. The sports show will have more sporting debate than ever before.

Also, today we have Nick Bell replacing Drew Turner until after the Easter break so we welcome him to The Back Pages home.

So remember, 4.30pm is when we’ll be on air from now on. Today we’ll be announcing the leader of week 4 of the Six Nations Prediction League so please don’t miss out.
