Storm’s BIG day out at The Conwy Feast!

Category : Goings On

Over this weekend a food festival has been going on in Conwy and Storm went along yesterday to see what all the fuss was about.

The Conwy Feast showcased local food and drink as well as local talent, with bands and University societies performing throughout the town.

The day trippers

The first thing that hit us when we entered Conwy was the smell of amazing food, throughout the town there was over 150 stalls all wafting the smell of delicious food our way. When we tasted the food none of us were disappointed either, from Kangaroo Burgers to Chicken Korma to French style crepes  to the more traditional roast Pork bap the food was divine. And it wasn’t just meals on offer, there were stalls selling some very sour sweets as Cam discovered as well as a cake stall selling the largest meringues any of us had ever seen.

There were lots of food stalls

Once we had eaten there was plenty of drink on offer too. There was a beer tent on the quay hosted by some local brewers which served up some lovely tasting ales. So nice in fact that Amy had really wished she didn’t have to drive everyone home so she could have had more than just a few mouth falls. But it wasn’t just in the beer tent that you could find drink throughout the food halls there where plenty of local breweries and wine makers sharing free samples.

Although it was a food festival there was more going on than just the food and drink. Evan visited Conwy castle and saw Bangor Universities own Medieval Reenactment society performing to large crowds. BEDs where there too performing throughout the town and trying to sell passer byers some “Jesus Blood”. Rosie got talking to Cadi Ha the Morris Dancing society as well as they jingled along the High street entertaining feast goers.

Cadi Ha

John got talking to some ‘exhibitors’ , speaking to some geese in the farming for food tent. A living farmyard of cows, pigs, sheep, hens and ducks from local farms with diagrams of where the cuts of meat came from, really reminded you about where our food  comes from.

A cow picking it's nose with it's tongue!

There was plenty of music on offer too from local bands. With three different stages all hosting different artists there was something for everyone’s music taste and the music really added to the celebration factor of the festival.

All of us really enjoyed our day out at the Conwy Feast and although the food and drink was a massive highlight the whole day was a feast for the eyes as well. From the blinc digital art to the bubbles coming out of archways, there was as much to eat as there was to see.

The mystery is solved!

Category : Shows

So after a very worrying hour and a bit it turns out that Lindsey and Amy’s skills at checking pulses and investigating were awful.

Cam is not dead and is alive!

After over an hour of questioning our four suspects, we discovered that they all had a motive to kill Cam.

LLion Jones, was in fact James Smith and was a spy from Chester universities Wall FM who had come to Storm to try and foil Storm’s attempts at doing well in the SRA awards. After Cam caught him trying to destroy Storm’s tech did he kill Cam to try and kill his competition?

Felicity May, who fancied Cam and had previously been rejected by Cam, claimed she had come to the studio to keep Cam company and try and get him to leave his girlfriend. But after being rejected again by Cam did it push her over the edge and decided that if she couldn’t have him no one could?

Daniel Storm, showed himself to really want to get Cams job as Station Manager. He had previously tried to get Cams job and on air didn’t seem that bothered by Cams untimely death. Did he after arguing with Cam that he would be the better candidate, decide to kill him to get him out of the way?

or was it Dominic Vince, who has admitted his desperation to get his hands on an Ipad and his willingness to do almost anything to get one. The investigation showed that he was looking at Ipads priced at exactly the same price as the £455 that Cam and the presenters shaving their heads had raised for comic relief. Did Dom kill Cam to get his hands on the money raised for charity so he could buy the Ipad?

However it was the surprise bit of audio that we found in Dom’s production work which solved the attempted murder for us

The Forum a new time and a new presenter

Category : Shows

If you tuned in yesterday at 6.00 and couldn’t find The Forum, don’t worry we have not disappeared from Storm!

We now have a new time and slot of Wednesdays at 6.00.

We also have a new presenter in the form of Nicole Nally and she certainly proved that she can fit straight in on The Forum.

The show this week covered the confusion of what was happening with the removal of Bangor’s police hub. Hopefully we put some of your worries at rest, as the changes won’t affect the service we get from our 999 calls and Bangor police station is certainly NOT closing.

We also looked at the protests in the Middle East and as promised here are some of the links to the websites we were looking at

 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-12482313

For a look at the country by country facts and updates on what is happening in the Middle East

http://www.transparency.org/policy_research/surveys_indices/cpi/2010/results

and this link is for the transparency index map.

We closed the show by having a quick discussion about the trouble Italian Prime minister Berlusconi has got himself in with him being accused of paying a 17yr old for sex

Tune in next week at 6.00 on Wednesday and remember to get in Contact, it’s your student Forum to air the issues affecting you!
